Where it started

Originally a concept to get easier access to artists backstage. Post-show meal, local spot, interview. The music industry pitch never happened, the food community showed up instead.

What it became

Walking into local spots and documenting them honestly is what made people care. No studio, no script, just a camera and a real conversation. Owners started recognizing me. Regulars started following to find their next spot. Every video was made for the people in it, not the algorithm.

Where it went

80+ brands reached out directly. The Mariners emailed first, loved how I covered food and the city, and invited me to a season food showcase and then a Dogs at the Park game. CID asked me to document their Guinness World Record attempt for the largest dim sum dinner in history, beating Australia's record. They liked the work so much they hired me to edit videos for their own page. The brand built for myself became proof of what I could do for others.

The brief

A Seattle bagel and coffee shop with a loyal local following, no content system, and a brand story worth telling.

The work

Built the full creative operation: content strategy, campaign videos, social series, in-store design, menus, and signage. When 'Put It On My Neighbor's Tab' came to the table - inspired by nationwide food stamp cuts, sparked by a coffee shop in Oregon doing something similar - I jumped in on the marketing and ran all the production and video rollout. 2.1 million views. 7k free meals. A local bagel shop became a community story.

The result

800k+ accounts reached, 7k to 13.5k followers, and a campaign that went viral on pure goodwill. The brand now leads with values, not just content.

The role

3 years embedded as Program Assistant with the Youth Development Program. Not a freelance gig, a full-time position inside the organization, working across multiple departments.

The work

Ran media production for the annual Skate Jam, designed event merch and stickers, produced graphics across 5 departments, and managed daily programming for 129 kids.

What it taught

You can't make things for a community you don't understand. 3 years inside an organization teaches you to listen before you build, and that carries into every project now.

The idea

Drip Tea recognized me from my food content and reached out about doing a collab. I came up with the concept: a Pop Rocks-inspired event with exclusive drinks, a DJ lineup, and a full content rollout built around it.

The execution

Menu development and naming, DJ booking, all print and digital graphics, social rollout, teaser content, day-of photography, and the final recap edit. One event, one person, zero agencies.

The result

Sold-out pop-up. The event ran clean from concept to recap because every decision came from the same person with the same vision.

Hung Tran
// about me

Hi, I'm Hung. You might know me as @whoishungy.

I'm a marketer, filmmaker, and creative strategist based in Washington. What ties my work together isn't a single industry. It's how I think. I find the pattern, connect what I've learned in one place to a problem somewhere else, and build something with a clear reason behind every choice.

A big part of my work lives in the food and beverage space, building content systems, running social, and helping restaurants and cafes grow from the ground up. I've worked with multiple F&B businesses across the Pacific Northwest, turning their story into content that actually brings people through the door.

I come from a tech background, BS Informatics from UW, which shapes how I approach scope, systems, and building things that actually hold up. I've also made content in the music industry, directed brand videos for health companies, and built a clothing brand in college to understand production and the full marketing lifecycle from the inside.

Whatever the industry, the aim is the same: make people feel something, and give them a reason to act.
